In order to meet AABB and FAHCT requirements, the results of infectious disease testing performed on the patient from whom the product is collected within 30 days prior to collection must be performed and must be provided to the purging laboratory no later then the arrival of the product to be purged. This is necessary in order to be able to properly label the product prior to cryopreservation. Results of serology for the following are required:
- Anti-HIV-
- Anti- HBc
- Anti HTLV
- Anti HIV-2
- Anti HCV
- Serologic test for syphilis
- HIV Antigen
- Anti CMV
- HbsAg
For Marrow Harvest Patients Only:
A bilateral illiac crest bone marrow aspirate (5 to 10 mls each side), collected in preservative free heparin approximately 1 week (and no greater then 30 days) prior to marrow harvest. The marrow aspirates should be sent to the Immunoctyology (Neuroblastoma Reference) Laboratory at CHLA.
Do not ship a marrow for immunoctyology without prior arrangement with the immunoctyology laboratory. Immunocytology results are required prior to marrow purging as detectable tumor in the pre-harvest aspirate mandates use of a more aggressive purging method.
